Partnering Organizations

The EUDL committee and Sinnissippi Centers Inc. have joined forces with several organizations in an effort to spread the Prevention and EUDL messages, gain input from a variety of perspectives, educate our community and share resources.  The following is a list of our current partners.

Carroll County Substance Education Coalition (CCSEC)

CCSEC was started to address the growing problem us Meth use and manufacture in Carroll County back in 2004.  Since then, this coalition has grown and expanded to focus on educating the community about the affects of use and abuse of Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs (ATOD).  CCSEC currently has 3 subcommittees:  Education, Strategic Planning and Finance and EUDL.  New members welcome.  We meet the first Thursday of each month at St. Johns Church in Savanna.  Stop by or contact freddiepreston@sinnissippi.com; or dawneelliott@sinnissippi.com

The John Mest Community House: Home of the Rivertown Theatre Project

The John Mest Community House (Mest House) and the Rivertown Theatre Project (RTP) is located in Savanna Illinois in a home donated to the project by the Mest family.  The program is directed by Gretchen Law and Dawne E. Elliott.  This Not-For -Profit volunteer organization is partnering with SCI in the Thunder Studies after school program and will offer various activities designed to promote community responsibility, character building, educational and social opportunities.

Forrestville Valley Youth Network (FVVYN)

The FVVYN was started in 2001 to assist students to resist alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.  The coalition chose Mentoring as the means to accomplish this goal.  They successfully sustained the program for 5 years with donations made from community members and by holding various fundraising events.  Data collected throughout the program demonstrated success and this past year school district 221 offered to take the program over and accept responsibility for sustaining it. Their after school Mentoring program is currently ongoing in German Valley, Leaf River and Forreston.

FVVYN has collaborated with the West Carroll School District and SCI Prevention Specialist Elliott to create the West Carroll Thunder Studies after school Tutoring/Mentoring program which is due to open March 20th 2007!
